Man speeds into Leakesville Ward’s, charged and released on medical bail

LEAKESVILLE, Mississippi (WDAM) – Ward’s Restaurant in Leakesville had to host an uninvited, unwelcome and unwanted guest early Wednesday morning.

Greene County Sheriff Ryan Walley said officers responded to a report of a car crash at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday and quickly determined that a section of the city had been severely struck by a car.

Walley said a man fled the scene of the accident while driving, but was later arrested and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Walley said the man was taken to the Greene County Jail after being treated and released and was released on medical bail.

Walley did not name the suspect or provide further details about the charges.
