Griekspoor in third round, Baez gives up

Griekspoor, seeded 40, led 6-1, 2-0 when Baez, seeded 23, retired on Wednesday night at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

The Dutchman will next face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who is seeded 9th.

Tallon Griekspoor defeated Indian Sumit Nagal (6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (6)) in the final round of the US Open.
