While on routine patrol on August 22 at approximately 12:32 a.m., a Licking officer noticed two individuals sitting outside a business that had closed for the evening. As the officer attempted to make contact with the individuals, the female individual placed an object behind the propane tank.

When the officer asked 27-year-old Joiemarie Saiz of Houston, Missouri, what she had placed near the tank, she replied, “Nothing.”

The officer continued his investigation and looked for what was under the propane tank. He found a hypodermic syringe with a clear liquid and a small glass vial containing capsules. When asked what was in the capsules, Saiz replied that they contained fentanyl.

Saiz was arrested and taken to Texas County Jail until formal charges are brought.

District Attorney Parke Stevens charged Saiz with second-degree drug trafficking. Her arraignment was scheduled for August 27, 2024.

Charges are mere accusations and not proof of guilt. Evidence to support charges must be presented to the courts to determine guilt or innocence.
