Adidas releases official match balls for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League

Adidas releases official match balls for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League

Adidas released the new official match balls for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Women’s Champions League today, August 28. Both balls feature solid stars again rather than the staggered pattern that the brand has used on the official match balls of the UCL and UWCL since 2019.

The aesthetic of the UCL ball is simple, with the stars synonymous with the tournament in black on white hexagons with details in “turbo” red and “solar” yellow.

The new official UWCL match ball features the same arrangement of stars and hexagons as the men’s ball, but has its own graphic update.

Three stripes in ‘Turbo’ red and ‘Aurora’ black run across the surface to represent the shape of the trophy arms – the first time they have appeared on the UEFA Women’s Champions League ball. The Adidas logo in ‘Solar’ yellow completes the new look.

In addition to the new graphic design, the ball features Adidas performance technologies that provide improved precision and spin. The updated Prisma surface for 2024/25 includes a new embossed pattern that Adidas says has “undergone rigorous testing in wind tunnels and on the pitch.”

The outer structural coating, common to all Adidas UEFA Champions League official match balls, provides secure grip and control, while Adidas developed the thermally bonded seamless construction for performance during play.

A CTR core in the ball is “tuned for accuracy and consistency, supporting fast, precise play with maximum shape and air retention.” The core consists of two components: “a waste-free bladder made from renewable natural rubber and the carcass made from a double-patched PES fabric that gives the bladder its strength and shape.”

In addition to using recycled polyester and water-based ink for the new official match balls, Adidas has used more bio-based substances in their production than any previous official UEFA Champions League match ball. Adidas has adapted each layer of the ball to include corn fibre, sugar cane, wood pulp and rubber without compromising performance.

Nick Craggs, General Manager for Global Football at Adidas said, The largest stage in European club football deserves the most powerful technology to support players on the pitch and excite fans around the world. That is why we have tirelessly pursued new innovations to produce the most precise ball possible.

“For the coming season we have rearranged the cover To Once again Special feature the full-length star panels that originally made them so iconic, but with a brand new embossed configuration for improved aerodynamics. We can’t wait to see them in action on the feet of some of the best players in the world,” Craggs continued.

Guy-Lauren Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, said: “The launch of the new official match ball is always an exciting milestone for fans and players, as we prepare for another exciting season. The iconic design of these new balls evokes memories of the magical moments we have experienced over the years, while the cutting-edge technology is a symbol for the constant development and premium positioning that characterizes the competitions.”
