Suspect who helped set restaurant arson arrested; second still at large

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – A suspect caught on video helping to set a fire at a Kansas City shawarma restaurant has been arrested, but police are still searching for his accomplice.

Kansas City, Missouri police announced Wednesday, August 28, that a suspect in connection with the arson at Haha’s Kebabs and Shawarama restaurant has been arrested for his role.

However, investigators said they are still trying to identify the other suspect.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on July 8, emergency crews were called to the restaurant near the corner of W. 39th and Wyandotte St. for a report of a fire. The restaurant was destroyed, but surveillance footage showed the fire started when two people lit an object on fire and threw it through a broken window.
