Harris campaign co-chair criticizes Trump over microphone dispute

Co-chair of the Harris campaign Mitch Landrieu roasted former president Donald Trump about the ongoing dispute over whether to mute the microphones at the upcoming ABC presidential debate or go live, musing that Trump’s “own team” wants to “silence” him.

The Harris campaign said it preferred live microphones during the Sept. 10 debate, as has been the practice at previous presidential debates, with the exception of the CNN debate in June. However, the former president and his own campaign advisers are pushing for the same rules agreed to for the CNN debate when president Joe Biden was still the Democratic nominee. Those rules included muting microphones to avoid interruptions – a requirement that some in the Trump camp now consider necessary.

Appearances on MSNBC Good morning, Joe on Wednesday, asked about the microphone problem and what the host had agreed on the debate rules Jonathan LemireLandrieu noted that Trump’s team was afraid because he was “uncontrollable” and “crazy.”

You know, I find it so interesting that we’re fighting about his own team trying to silence him. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard that before in the debates and the debate rules.

Look, if the microphones stay on, people will hear what he says, if they stay off, he will still yell and scream. He’s an uncontrollable guy, he’s crazy. I heard he just appeared on TV with Dr. Phil and claimed he won the election in California even though he lost by 5 million votes. He’s a delusional guy and instead of talking about the microphones, we should keep talking about the fact that Donald Trump obviously doesn’t see reality and that’s a really critical point because some people want to give him presidential power so he can use it in ways that harm the American people and we’re not going to let that happen.

Watch above on MSNBC.
