Lake Charles Symphony announces schedule for 67th season with “Fire and Light”

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – The Lake Charles Symphony is gearing up for its 67th season and announcing this year’s conductor, William Rose. We spoke with him this morning to get details on what they have planned for the Lake Area this season.

Rose has been with the symphony for 38 years and will be the 8th conductor to take the position. He is the associate department head of the WA and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts at McNeese State University.

The theme of this season is “Fire and Light”.

Their opening concert is called “Orchestra Ignited” and will take place on Saturday, October 5th at 6pm at the Rosa Heart Theatre. The show will feature Mozart’s 40th Symphony and special guest Jan Scott.

The Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas performance is called “Festival of Lights and Warmth” and will take place on Saturday, December 14th at 6 p.m. in the Rosa Heart Theater. Special guests will be Leif Pedersen and members of the local high school choir.

Afterwards, you can attend the Symphony Orchestra’s Spring Picnic Concert on Sunday, March 16.

This will be followed by their season finale concert on Saturday May 3rd, where they will present “Ritual Fire Dance” by Manual de Falla and “The Grand Canyon Suite” by Ferede Grof’e and will be accompanied by special guests BONOVOX.

You can also take part in their “Quartets in Candles” series this year.

They will perform “Classics in Candles” at the Historic City Hall Museum on Thursday, September 12th.

There will also be a performance called “Candles Under the Oak” at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum on Thursday, December 19.

And in June 2025 there will be a “Candles in the Wind” concert featuring Elton John’s hits.
