Homeowner escapes unharmed after his house catches fire in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – According to the Houston Fire Department, a house caught fire in northwest Houston on Tuesday.

Just before 10 p.m., firefighters responded to a home where a large fire had broken out in the front alleyway, located in the 900 block of Drane Street near the White Oak Bayou Greenway Trail.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Scott Raider, the fire apparently started in the hallway of the house but then spread toward the garage.

Firefighters responded quickly to prevent the fire from entering the home and said the homeowner managed to exit the house safely.

The fire department has not yet confirmed the cause of the fire, but fire investigators have been called to the scene.
