Katy Perry will receive MTV’s Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her greatest hits live at the 2024 VMAs, taking place on Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT from New York City’s UBS Arena.

The network announced that the five-time VMA winner will be back on the VMAs stage for the first time since 2017, when she performed as both host and singer. Perry won the VMAs’ top honor of Video of the Year in 2011 for her hit “Firework.” In addition to Perry, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro and Sabrina Carpenter are slated to perform. More names will be announced soon.

Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming and Events at Paramount and Chief Content Officer for Music at Paramount+, said in a statement: “Katy is a musical powerhouse and a true pop culture icon. Her groundbreaking creative vision has made her a global phenomenon and she has conquered the biggest stages in the world. Katy’s talent will be on display live at the VMAs with an unforgettable, career-spanning performance celebrating her biggest moments and chart-topping hits.”

Taylor Swift leads this year’s VMA nominations with ten, followed by Post Malone with nine, Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter with six each, Megan Thee Stallion and Sza with five each, and Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims with four each.
