Trump to participate in ABC News presidential debate

Former President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he had agreed to a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

ABC News will host the debate on September 10 in Philadelphia, Trump said on social media.

“I have made an agreement with the radical left Democrats for a debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. It will be broadcast live on Tuesday, September 10th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on ABC FAKE NEWS, by far the nastiest and most unfair news anchor in the business,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He later added that ABC News had assured him the debate would be fair and “just.” The former president claimed the network was biased, writing in another Truth Social post Sunday night that it had hosted a “so-called” panel with “Trump haters” earlier in the day.

“Why should I hold the debate against Kamala Harris on this network?” he asked.

Trump said Tuesday that the same rules would apply as in the CNN-moderated debate with President Joe Biden, who he said was one of the few people for whom the debate “did not end well.”

“The debate will be standing and candidates will not be allowed to bring notes or cheat sheets,” Trump wrote.

The former president said during a press conference on Monday that ABC News should be “banned” from all presidential debates, claiming the network was a “disgrace.”

“I’d much rather do it at NBC. Frankly, I’d much rather do it at CBS. I think CBS is very unfair, but it’s the best company in the bunch,” he argued. “And of course I’d do it at Fox. I’d even do it at CNN. I thought CNN treated us very fairly last time.”

In his Truth Social post, Trump accused NBC of spreading “fake news” and added that Harris did not agree with the network or Fox News spreading fake news.

“Harris would not agree to the FoxNews debate on September 4, but that date is being kept open in case she changes her mind or, as she has done on every single one of her long-held and cherished political beliefs, backtracks,” the former president wrote. “A possible third debate, which would feature NBC FAKE NEWS, has not been approved by the radical left.”

Neither the Harris campaign nor ABC News responded to The National Desk’s request for comment.
