GIRLS TENNIS

New Ulm 2

NEW ULM – Pipestone Area defeated New Ulm 5-2 in a non-league girls tennis meet on Tuesday.

Karlee Prahl earned a win for New Ulm over Jasmine Boeke in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while New Ulm’s No. 2 doubles team, Kaylee Evan and Lilly Kral, won 2-6, 6-4, 10-2 over Laura Minet and Iva Witter.

New Ulm will host St. Peter’s on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and Mankato West at 6:30 p.m.

PREPARING FOR VOLLEYBALL

Wabasso 3, Lake View 0

COTTONWOOD – Wabasso defeated Lakeview 25-11, 25-19 and 25-20 in a non-league volleyball match on Tuesday.

Alivia Olson led the Rabbits with 11 kills, 11 digs and three aces, while Leah Mathiowetz had seven kills and six digs with two aces. Camryn Irlbeck had seven kills and three aces, while Carly Fenger had eight kills. Sarah Carlson had 39 assists and two aces.

Wabasso travels to the cathedral on Thursday, September 5.

Madelia 3, MLA 0

MOUNTAIN LAKE – Madelia defeated Mountain Lake Area 25-20, 25-20 and 25-22 in a non-league volleyball match on Tuesday.

Ashlynn Sweet led the Blackhawks with 12 kills, four blocks and two aces, while Makayla Sorenson had five kills, eight digs and one block. Katie Bocock had 11 set assists and three aces, while Payton Bruns had 12 digs and five aces.

Madelia (1:1) welcomes Cedar Mountain on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 3, Loyola 1

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye defeated Loyola 25-17, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-13 in a Tomahawk Valley Conference volleyball crossover match on Tuesday.

Sam Price led the Indians with 12 kills, eight digs and two aces, while Jaelynn Schauman had six kills and two blocks. Paige Haala added five kills, eight digs and three aces and Hannah Meyer had 17 set assists, nine digs and two aces.

Sleepy Eye hosts Cedar Mountain on Thursday, September 5th.

Lester Prairie 1

NICOLLET – Nicollet defeated Lester Prairie 25-18, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-9 in a Tomahawk Valley Conference volleyball crossover match on Tuesday.

Cason Forbrook had 11 kills, seven aces and four blocks for the Raiders, while Leah Bode had 10 kills, 11 digs and seven blocks. Miah Lambrecht had 14 assists and Kamryn Truebenbach added 14 digs.

Nicollet will host Alden-Conger on Thursday, September 5.

Sibley East 3, GFW 0

WINTHROP – Sibley East defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 25-20, 25-12 and 25-11 in a non-league volleyball match on Tuesday.

Trinity Stearns led the Thunderbirds with eight kills and one ace, while Kora Schwarzrock had four kills and two aces. Natalie Ahlbrecht had nine set assists and one block, while Cheyenne Schmidt had five digs.

GFW plays at Loyola on Tuesday, September 3rd.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Fairmont 5, New Ulm 4

FAIRMONT – Fairmont defeated New Ulm 5-4 in a Big South Conference girls soccer game on Tuesday.

Olivia Enter scored two goals for New Ulm, while Jesalyn Skoglund had a goal and an assist. Grace Barie had a goal and Yanellie Fernandez had an assist. Ellie Dake made 13 saves in the game.

New Ulm hosts St. James/Windom/Madelia on Thursday.
