WWE announces special referee for NXT Title No Mercy Match

WWE announces Trick Williams will be guest referee for Ethan Page vs. Joe Hendry at NXT No Mercy

Tonight’s episode of NXT ended with a very special concert by TNA star Joe Hendry, and he dedicated the entire performance to NXT Champion Ethan Page. However, Hendry not only had a song prepared, but also showed a ton of photos and videos of Page on screen to back up his trolling, making fun of Page’s toy collection, showing videos of him in costume, and more. Hendry got the crowd singing along to the chorus, which prompted Page to end the concert, but then NXT General Manager Ava Raine interrupted him and announced that his match at No Mercy would have a special referee thanks to his actions last week, and it turned out to be Page’s arch-nemesis Trick Williams.

Ethan sucks, believe in Joe

Hendry captivated the crowd with a song to close out NXT, singing, “Ethan is the champ and I’m sorry to say I don’t want to show you how he stays in shape.” Hendry continued, singing, “There are costumes in his bedroom, there are figurines on the shelf, but he’s most exciting when he’s playing with himself.” As the crowd laughed, Hendry sang, “And now Joe wins the title, because we’ve had enough, Ethan likes to train in costume.”

This led to the simple but quite effective chorus and it wasn’t long before Hendry had the fans singing along. Hendry sang, “Ethan sucks, believe in Joe, Ethan, put some clothes on. Ethan sucks, believe in Joe, Ethan, put some clothes on,” and the crowd took it from there. Ethan came out and blew up the concert. The crowd began chanting the chorus to Page, who was not pleased and became more and more angry as the crowd sang along. They got louder as he began to berate Hendry. Page then said he knew what was best for the company and the people, which was to keep Hendry out of NXT and away from the people.

Then Ava Raine came out and addressed Ethan, saying he should be flattered that Hendry wrote such a special song. She then said she had some things sorted out and finalized and revealed that his title defense at No Mercy would have a special guest referee and it turned out to be Trick Williams. Williams came out in full referee gear and then Hendry gave Page a standing ovation and got the three-count from Williams, giving fans a little taste of what could happen on Sunday.
