NFL Cuts Tracker: Notable 2024 roster cuts with implications for Fantasy Football

It’s time for NFL roster cuts, as each team must be down to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 27. Some teams will make their roster cuts all at once, others in multiple stages.

Some teams even make their NFL cuts individually, like the Dolphins with quarterback Michael Whitewhich seems a bit harsh to put them in the spotlight like that. But I’m not a general manager, so I can’t tell them how to manage their rosters.

Notable NFL roster cuts 2024

What I can do is go through the NFL’s notable roster cuts to see if there are any potential comeback candidates that could land on new teams. Not every team is as well positioned as the San Francisco 49ers or Kansas City Chiefsso one person’s trash can be another person’s treasure.

We’ll highlight a few names from the extensive list of NFL roster cuts here and update them through 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 27. And without further ado, here’s our official 2024 NFL cuts tracker!

The Denver Broncos announced that they are parting ways with the fan favorite after several years that ended with injuries. The Broncos are going in a new direction with a rookie quarterback, but perhaps the experienced split end can fit in with a team that needs a big wide receiver, like the New York Giantsperhaps.

Courtland Sutton remains the best big body in Denver and Greg Dulcich could take more snapshots further out.

The Broncos have also released experienced running back Samaje Perine. They have a backfield full of young players like Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin And Audric Estime so that they can look to the future.

Perine is a good pass-down back and teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers or his former employer Cincinnati Bengals might be interested in his services.

Scott signed a $1,225,000 contract with the Los Angeles Lakerswho decided that they did not need his services. He could possibly return to the Philadelphia Eagles on a veteran minimum contract or he could land somewhere else as part of a backfield. He can also contribute on special teams, which increases his chances.

Skylar Thompson made the most of his chances, making White redundant Tua Tagovailoa. But that doesn’t mean he can’t go somewhere else. The Dolphins kept extra backup players last year because they were concerned about Tua’s health, but that proved to be overkill as Tua remained largely healthy all year.

The 49ers looked at Breida, but inevitably decided they liked what they had, especially after Jordan Mason was the highest-rated back of the previous season. The obvious landing spot for Breida would be a return to the New York Giants where the running back position is quite thinly staffed.

Another former Giant, Shepard, was signed in the first wave of cuts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shepard had periods where he was a target monster out of the slot, but injury after injury derailed his season. Perhaps the Giants will bring him back or another team will give him a chance in the slot.

The 24-year-old wide receiver was a former NFL second-round pick, but the Carolina Panthers called for his release.

He has friends in the league with former LSU coach Joe Brady, now the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills and his former quarterback Joe Burrow obviously the starting QB for the Cincinnati BengalsThose would be his two best spots to try again.

The two-time Super Bowl winner was named Kansas City Chiefs after a year and a half of inconsistent play. The former first-round pick has exciting explosiveness when used in the right position, so perhaps another team will take a shot at the controversial young talent. He’s only 25 years old.

After Steve Diggs Trade, the Texans found themselves with an abundance of riches at wide receiver and decided they no longer needed the services of Noah Brown. Brown came in last year due to injuries and had a few monster games in a row where he received passes for over 150 yards. Maybe this will get him another chance somewhere else?

He has never been a good pass catcher, but D’Onta Foreman is a bat that can get you a yard when you need it. And those performances are so valuable at the NFL level that he has been relevant in fantasy games from time to time. There are definitely some weak backfields that could consider Foreman.

He hasn’t quite proven himself as a pass catcher yet, but Parham is a useful blocker. And at 6’1″ he’s a damn good target in the red zone. Los Angeles Chargers release him, but another team could certainly take a look at him.

Known as an All-Pro returner, Nwangwu may have been a victim of the new kick return rules here. Still, he showed flashes of explosiveness at times that could earn him a chance with another team. If I were to bet on anyone on the NFL roster, it would be someone who can sprint the 40 yards in 4.37 seconds.

After trading for Jahan DotsonThe Eagles decided to go in a different direction and released Campbell. He could emerge as a potential slot wide receiver elsewhere, so keep an eye on his status.

The Commander’s new regime took a new direction in the selection of tight ends Ben Sinnott and also an old direction, mating Zach Ertz with former offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. The retrained wide receiver Cole Turner at least he’s distorted when catching passes, so maybe he could be used in a different tight end room.
