Donald Trump agrees to a debate with Kamala Harris and sets out concrete rules

Donald Trump accepted the debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Washington:

In the run-up to the presidential election in the USA, former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump agreed to a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris and set out concrete conditions and rules for the debate.

In a post on the social media platform Truth, Trump said: “I have made an agreement with the radical left Democrats for a debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. It will air live on Tuesday, September 10th on ABC FAKE NEWS, by far the nastiest and most unfair news anchor in the business, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”

Trump had previously indicated over the weekend that he might cancel the debate due to a dispute between campaign teams over the rules.

Trump said on Truth Social that he and Harris agreed to follow the same rules as the June 27 CNN debate with President Joe Biden, including that there will be no live audience and that microphones will be muted when the candidates are not speaking.

“The rules are the same as the last CNN debate, which seemed to go well for everyone except maybe Crooked Joe Biden. The debate will be standing and candidates will not be allowed to bring notes or cheat sheets. ABC has also assured us that this will be a “fair and equitable” debate and that neither side will be given the questions in advance (No, Donna Brazile!).”

The Republican presidential candidate went on to explain that the radical left has not agreed to a third debate. The post said: “Harris would not agree to the FoxNews debate on September 4th, but that date is being kept open in case she changes her mind or backs down, as she has done on every single one of her long-held and cherished political beliefs. A possible third debate that would see NBC FAKE NEWS take over is not something the radical left has agreed to. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

In particular, Biden’s halting and uncoordinated performance in the CNN debate with Trump in June ultimately led to his withdrawal from the presidential race.

Harris filed for the presidential nomination after US President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential candidacy in July.

If elected president, 59-year-old Harris would be the first woman in history to become U.S. president. The vice president is only the second woman ever nominated for president by a major political party.
