Dog found in pitiful condition during drug investigation

MERCER COUNTY, Kentucky (WYMT) – After a drug investigation, police tracked down dozens of dogs living in deplorable conditions.

Kenneth Brawner, 47, and Gabriella Follmer, 52, were arrested on drug charges as well as animal cruelty and torture of a dog and a cat, respectively.

Drugs and paraphernalia were found in the home. Items recovered from the home included meth, pipes, baggies, money, a crystal-like substance and something that looked like fentanyl.

Police said 34 dogs were removed from the home. More than 20 dogs were returned to their shelter. According to the Mercer County Animal Shelter, some were in poor condition.

“Some have neurological problems and the older dogs may have skin problems that need to be treated,” says Wendy Quiggle of the Mercer County Animal Shelter. “Most were fed and doing well. What was scary was the condition of the facility itself.”

According to officials, the dogs will be available for adoption once the court proceedings are completed.
