FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAY: The heat continues

HAZARD, Kentucky (WYMT) – After reaching highs in the 80s on Tuesday, the heat wave continues with temperatures in the 80s through Friday.

Headlines:

• 90s Next

• Low chance of rain on Wednesday

• Finally, a cool down

DISCUSSION:

*A Heat Advisory is in effect for Wayne County, West Virginia, until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 28.*

As forecast, we had temperatures in the 30s on Tuesday, with some places reaching record highs. That will continue on Wednesday, with highs in the 35s. You think that’s warm? Thursday will be even warmer, with highs in the 35s and 39s.

The only consolation is that the humidity will not be extremely high. Yes, it will still be “air to wear,” but it could still be worse (Example: Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, where heat indices are around 117.) We won’t get that high, but triple-digit heat indices are definitely possible.

REGARDING RAINFALL

Rain is also forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, but only to a small extent. The greatest probability of widespread rain is on Friday and even Saturday.

COOLING

We will also see a continued cooling trend, with highs in the 30s and 35s on Friday, mid to high 30s on Saturday, and low to mid 27s to start September.

Enjoy your evening!
