Jason Miller suggests Harris has ‘sinister’ plans at play as she fights debate rules

Jason Miller, senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, argued that there were “evil” intentions behind Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign’s call to change the rules for the next presidential debate.

The report detailing the Harris campaign’s request was released on Monday, saying her campaign is demanding that both candidates’ microphones be turned on throughout the debate, rather than muting a candidate’s microphone when his opponent is speaking. Miller noted that this report was released on the third anniversary of the attack on Kabul airport that killed 13 soldiers during the Biden administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal, and said the debate rules were originally created by the Harris campaign.

“But the reason they chose today to do this is to try to divert attention from Kamala Harris,” Miller said on Monday on Fox News. Jesse Watters Primetime“I find this really cynical. I think what they’re doing is just disgusting. And remember, Kamala Harris said she was the last person in the room when this decision was made. These deaths are on them, and it’s disgraceful that they launched this attack today of all days.”

Miller also predicted that Harris was looking for a “back-up” to avoid debating Trump next month and speculated that her preparations for the debate were not going well. He added that the career of the last candidate to “get in the political ring” with Trump was over, referring to President Joe Biden, who announced less than a week after his debate with Trump that he would not continue his re-election campaign.

The senior adviser also noted that 36 days have passed since Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee for 2024 and that she has yet to give an interview to the press. Miller said Harris’ support has reached its “peak” and that Trump has only gained momentum ahead of the election thanks to a recent endorsement from former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Trump wrote a statement on Truth Social questioning whether he should participate in the upcoming debate with Harris, currently scheduled to be hosted by ABC News on September 10. The former president specifically questioned why Harris opposed a debate with other networks such as Fox News, NBC or CBS News and insisted on staying with ABC News.

Although Harris declined an offer from Trump to take part in a debate on Fox News on September 4, the former president said he would instead hold a “tele-town hall” event with host Sean Hannity on the network.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called on Trump to debate Harris next month and “agree to whatever stupid rules they want.” He said the debate would be “rigged anyway” and argued that it had to happen because otherwise Harris would not take questions from the press until Election Day.
