Boys golf in Spearfish is off to a hot start this fall

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – In the first full week of the boys high school golf season, it was clear that Spearfish is one of the top programs in West River. The Spartans took second place at the Sturgis Invite in Boulder Canyon last week and took first place at the Cobbler Invite to the Elks on Monday morning.

The roster is full from top to bottom, but head coach Eric Ligtenberg is most impressed with seniors Charlie Rasmussen and Parker Reede, who treat their craft like a job and always seem to deliver for their team.

“All summer long they drive around the state and go to out-of-state competitions and try to find the absolute best competition,” Ligtenberg said of their desire to improve. “And that’s pretty evident when we start the season because their game is so well-tuned.”
