Netflix announces second season of crime series “Kohrra”

Actor Barun Sobti will return for the second chapter and Mona Singh will join him in the Punjab-set police drama, which is a huge hit with its first season in July 2023.

The new season is directed by showrunner, producer and co-creator Sudip Sharma together with Faisal Rahman. The series is produced by Act Three Productions and Film Squad Productions, Netflix said in a statement.

The second season marks Sharma’s debut as a producer (at Act Three Productions) and as a director.

“‘Kohrra’ was more than just a show for us – it’s a piece of our hearts. We put everything we have into this story and it’s incredibly moving to see how much love it has received.

“It inspired us to come back with something even more powerful. We’re committed to telling stories that feel real, that reflect the lives of real people in a raw and authentic way, and that’s exactly what you’ll see in the new season on Netflix,” said Sharma.

The second season will delve into another crime theme, exploring family dynamics, interpersonal secrets and the foggy backdrop of Punjab.

Sobti will reprise his role as Garundi, a young cop who investigates a mysterious crime in the first season while navigating his personal dreams and dilemmas.

The details of Singh’s character were kept secret.

Kohrra received widespread praise from both audiences and critics, with actor Suvinder Vicky’s performance as the tormented Sub-Inspector Balbir Singh, who battles his personal demons while solving the murder of an NRI groom, being particularly notable.

Gunjit Chopra and Diggi Sisodia are the co-creators of “Kohrra”, which is also produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra and Tina Tharwani.
