Windows 11 Insider Beta Channel Build 22635.4082 (KB5041876) includes lock screen changes

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 build for the Beta channel for members of the Windows Insider program. The build number is 22635.4082, under KB5041876. It includes, among other things, changes to the media controls on the Windows 11 lock screen.

Here is the changelog:

Changes and improvements will be gradually introduced in the Beta channel, with switching to

[Notifications]

If you prefer, there is now an option to turn off suggestions for disabling notifications from specific apps. You can now press “…” within the notification to disable the notification, as you can with other notifications, or you can go to the notification senders list in Settings > System > Notifications and disable it there (called “Notification suggestions” in the list). Note – this entry will only appear in the sender list after you receive one.

[Lock screen]

We updated the lock screen so that media controls now appear at the bottom center of the lock screen when media is playing.

Known issues

[File Explorer]

  • We are working to fix an issue that causes explorer.exe to crash when interacting with archive files in the latest beta flights.
  • [NEW] We’re working on a fix for an issue that causes File Explorer to crash when some Insiders on the previous flight switch to Home. If you’re affected and having trouble launching File Explorer because it’s set to Home, as a workaround, you can use the Run dialog (WIN + R) to open specific folders.
