Who are the betting favorites for the US Open?

Naomi Osaka is a slight favorite in her first round match against a seeded opponent, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. Osaka, the 2018 and 2020 US Open champion, is -150 for her match against No. 10 seed Jelana Ostapenko. Ostapenko, a former French Open champion, is +115. Emma Raducanu is also the favorite in her match between two former Grand Slam winners. The 2021 US Open champion is listed at -375 against 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, who is at +275. Carlos Alcaraz, the men’s favorite to win the tournament, is a huge favorite to win the first round. He is listed at -10,000 against Australian Li Tu. Alcaraz, who has won two major titles this year, is +210 to win the tournament, putting him ahead of defending champion Novak Djokovic at +225, followed by No. 1 Jannik Sinner at +350 and 2020 runner-up Alexander Zverev at +600. No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka – who has won the last two Australian Opens and finished runner-up in New York last year – is listed at +200 after her victory at the Cincinnati Open. Top seed Iga Swiatek, whose five Grand Slam titles include the 2022 US Open, follows at +350, ahead of Gauff (+800).

Swiatek, the 2022 women’s champion and the No. 1 seed this year, is scheduled to play the first match of the day at Arthur Ashe Stadium, facing Kamilla Rakhimova. That match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. EDT and will be followed by Sinner’s match against Mackenzie McDonald. The evening session at Ashe on Day 2 begins at 7:00 p.m. EDT with Alcaraz taking on Li Tu, followed by No. 6 women’s Jessica Pegula taking on fellow American Shelby Rogers. Players on the schedule at Louis Armstrong Stadium include former US Open champions Naomi Osaka and Medvedev during the day and Bianca Andreescu in the evening.

Gauff and No. 7 seed Olympic tennis champion Zheng Qinwen were among the winners in the women’s singles, while No. 9 seed Maria Sakkari was eliminated in the first round for the second year in a row when she stopped playing because of a shoulder injury.
