Meta Connect leaks reveal affordable Quest 3S and Batman game bundle: report

Meta Platforms, Inc (NASDAQ:META) will kick off its Connect 2024 event on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

The company will live stream the event on its Meta for Developers Facebook page and plans to showcase its mixed reality headsets, smart glasses and AI software updates.

Previous reports spoke of a Quest 3S device for $299.99 and Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses.

Bank of America Analyst Justin Post and rose petal Analyst Barton Crockett expects a cheaper virtual reality headset. They have their eye on a prototype of next-generation AR glasses that will focus more on mixed reality and augmented reality.

Expect AI product launches for core apps, meta-AI announcements, new AI messaging features, and an AI subscription product.

According to a report by Tom’s Guide Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) Store Display reveals details about the affordable headset, including its resolution, included controllers, and a copy of Batman: Arkham OriginsThe headset could contain both controllers and a game.

The headset display offers a resolution of 1,832 x 1,920 per eye, which is lower than the 4K displays on the higher-end Quest 3. According to Tom’s Guide, it also has 256GB of storage, which is higher than the 128GB previously expected.

The larger storage could cost $50 to $100 more. The leak indicates that the more expensive Quest 3 will only include the game. Meta Connect could also finally reveal an official launch date for Batman: Arkham Origins according to Tom’s Guide’s guess.

Last year, at Connect 2023, Meta unveiled the Quest 3 mixed reality headset, which was developed by Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip with a Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) 365 integration.

The company also launched Ray-Ban smart glasses with a 2MP wide-angle camera, five microphones, and built-in speakers. Connect 2023 also saw the launch of Meta AI and the announcement that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available on Quest 3.

Even for one of the most hyped and highest-end AR/VR headsets, Apple Vision Pro, the $3,500 price tag is hardly justified. Vision Pro’s launch has been slower than expected as developers devote their resources to platforms with billions of users.
