Rice University: Police investigate possible murder after shooting on campus

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Rice University has called for the establishment of a shelter following a possible murder at Jones College on Monday evening.

According to Houston police, the shooting was reported at 5:05 p.m. at 6200 Main St.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rice University said its police department was investigating the possible murder and urged all students, faculty and staff to stay home.

The university has cancelled all classes and activities for the rest of the day.
