Gang rape and abuse: doctor and lawyer arrested

The Benevento court has increased precautionary measures against a cardiologist and a lawyer suspected of committing serious crimes, including gang rape and abuse.

House arrest converted into detention

The cardiologist and the lawyer have been under house arrest since June. The court has now decided to take both of them into custody after the public prosecutor’s office requested tougher measures. A deputy public prosecutor is also involved in the case. In addition to sexual assault, the allegations also include abuse of the medical profession and the illegal distribution of videos.

Patients filmed and abused in hospital

According to the prosecutor’s investigation, the cardiologist is said to have started the crimes while working at the hospital in Benevento. The lawyer, who posed as a doctor, is said to have assisted. A particularly serious allegation is that the doctor filmed his patients naked and distributed the footage.

Investigations revealed further attacks

After an initial report, further cases came to light through further investigations and the confiscation of digital evidence, such as computers and smartphones. The financial police investigations have uncovered additional assaults on the cardiologist’s patients. The investigations are currently ongoing.
