The manufacturer saved this

The manufacturer saved this

This year, Apple limited itself to a single new model of the Apple Watch. With its much larger screen, the Apple Watch Series 10 could well be an alternative to the Apple Watch Ultra 2. But for a reason that is not entirely clear, the manufacturer has put a stop to this. Has Apple just skimped on this again?

Apple Watch Series 10: No ultra watch faces despite mega display

Quite a few potential customers See the largest model of the new Apple Watch Series 10 as a counter-proposal to the Apple Watch Ultra 2Apart from an optional black titanium case and new straps, nothing has changed with Apple’s most expensive smartwatch.

The Apple Watch Series 10 impresses not least with larger displays in flat cases. The largest model in particular now visibly competes with the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Although the Series 10’s case is a bit smaller at 46 mm than that of the Ultra (49 mm), the screen is actually a similar size.

To be precise, the display area of the Apple Watch Series 10 (46 mm) is 1,220 mm², which is even a bit larger than that of the Apple Watch Ultra, which only measures 1,185 mm².

The author Ryan Christoffel from 9to5Mac was amazed at what he and all other buyers are denied despite the larger displays. Apple saves itself the trouble of porting two watch faces – “Modular Ultra” and “Signpost” are also only available this year with watchOS 11 exclusively for the Apple Watch Ultra. This is despite the fact that there should now be enough space.

The two dials naturally benefit from the size of the displays. “Modular Ultra” with seven difficulties and six options for the actual size and layout of the time display takes up the space. It is also the watch face that Christoffel missed the most of the two Ultra watch faces.

The The regular modular dial of the Apple Watch Series 10, on the other hand, looks quite spartan and neither demanding nor versatile. It only offers six difficulties and has fewer features. And the Apple Watch 10 is missing something else in this regard. Both “Modular Ultra” and also “Signpost” support a night mode. The entire dial of the Apple Watch Ultra turns red. There is no such thing on the Series 10.

It probably remains a wish

For the future, Christoffel hopes that Apple will add both watch faces to the Apple Watch Series 10 via an update. The hardware should therefore certainly not be an obstacle. Rather, it is Apple’s intention to give the Apple Watch Ultra more exclusivity in this regard. Just like it is with the Hermès line of Apple Watch and the Nike versions. Their watch faces are and will remain exclusive to the corresponding models.

The display would be big enough:
