The best offensive rookies

Jayden Daniels (quarterback, Washington Commanders)

On Monday night, Daniels will face another former quarterback of the Louisiana State Tigers. Like Joe Burrow, Daniels won the Heisman Trophy and has long been considered a potential star player. Under the bright lights of Monday Night Football, Daniels delivered a terrific performance. He was dangerous as a runner, but also showed his ability as an accurate passer. With a completion rate of 91.3 percent on more than 20 throws, he set a new rookie record that was previously held by Dak Prescott.

Before the draft in April, there were occasional predictions of doom, given Daniels’ footwork and passing technique, which still needs improvement. In addition, the Commanders did not seem to have the ideal environment for a young QB, as the team only has two real wide receivers in Terry McLaurin and Zach Ertz, while everything is played through the two running backs. But Daniels shows leadership qualities before the snap, takes a timeout if necessary when he doesn’t like something, and finds his pass receiver when they are halfway open. Daniels is currently ranked ahead of number one pick Caleb Williams when it comes to quarterbacks.
