Ron Schallenberg: We have to deliver

Ron Schallenberg: We have to deliver

Busy days at Schalke: After the Darmstadt home game and the change of coach, the focus is now on the away game at Preußen Münster on Saturday evening (28.9.). After training on Tuesday (24.9.), Ron Schallenberg spoke about the chemistry within the team and the next game.

Ron Schallenberg about …

… the potential in the team: I am convinced that we will break the negative trend. But to do so, we have to bring our performance onto the pitch, including over 90 minutes. In the first half, we saw that we can do better. Of course, mental strength plays a role too; Friday’s result was definitely the biggest blow since I’ve been here at Schalke. But we are very solid as a team, no one lets the other down. It’s a challenging situation in which we have to deliver.

… the mood within the team: The change of coach hasn’t changed that much because it was good before. The team is in good spirits, and we continue to enjoy playing football together and are fully focused on the next tasks.

… interim coach Jakob Fimpel: He’s doing the job well, brought enthusiasm straight away and quickly communicated his ideas to us. This is a special situation for him too, but he’s really passionate about the task.

… the new game at Preußen Münster: There is a special atmosphere there, which means we can expect a tough game in which the ball will be in the air as much as it is on the ground. We have to be prepared for lots of crosses, go into the duels with confidence and at the same time play our game with the ball.
