Suspect identified in shooting at University of Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – University of Arizona police have identified the man accused of shooting 19-year-old Minhaj Jamshidi.

The UAPD says it is actively searching for 20-year-old Ryan Romero-Encinas, who has been on the run since the shooting on campus late Sunday night.

According to the university, police executed search warrants at two different locations off campus but were unable to locate Romero-Encinas.

They say he looks like a man who is 6 feet tall, weighs 175 pounds, with curly brown hair and hazel eyes.

“Nicole” is tattooed on his right forearm.

The University of Arizona says police are working with the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service to search for Romero-Encinas.

Meanwhile, the university said police would deploy additional officers on the Tucson campus and in the surrounding area.

In a press release, the University of Arkansas said it will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses and alert the public to any potential threats.

The university also provided a list of mental health resources to students, faculty and staff.
