Rock’s full-time wrestling career ended in 2002 when he began a highly successful acting career in Hollywood. In addition, Rock has had success as both a babyface and a heel. The wrestling bug is unstoppable and Rock has returned to WWE several times to take part in high-profile feuds, additionally winning the WWE Championship in 2013.



The Rock’s most recent WWE appearance took place in the spring of 2024 and the Final Boss character was born. Rock became a villain for the first time in nearly two decades and was once again on the main scene. The final matches in the career of the most electrifying man in sports entertainment spanned from 2003 to 2024 and featured a mix of classic Rock and some disappointing matches.

To the surprise of the crowd, Rock wore his wrestling gear under his vest and sweatpants. Rock and Rowan faced off, and Rock executed the Rock Bottom, setting a WrestleMania record for the fastest matches in WrestleMania history by defeating Rowan in just six seconds.

Goldberg was the favorite to win, having just walked through the doors of WWE. This match was Rock’s last in a WWE ring for 11 months, and fans saw Goldberg finish Rock off with a couple of Spears and then follow up with a devastating Jackhammer.

The match between The Rock and Jeff Hardy on Raw in April 2003 was Rock’s last match on the red brand. The former WWE Champion dominated the bout, but Hardy fought his way back into the match when Rock momentarily lost track of the ball.

On the way to WrestleMania 28The Rock and John Cena had a brake they had to get around when they became strange bedfellows when they teamed up to face the rebellious Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) in the main event of Survival series 2011. It was a special night for Rock as he competed at Madison Square Garden, the site of his WWE debut 15 years earlier at Survivor Series.

There was nothing special about this match as the heels repeatedly tried to keep Cena at bay. Nevertheless, the 10-time WWE World Champion settled the score by hitting The Miz with the People’s Elbow for a SmackDown.

The Rock and John Cena fought once at WrestleMania 28, but it was supposed to be a once in a lifetime match. Inevitably, they met in a rematch at WrestleMania 29 for The Rock’s WWE Championship, and Cena was the winner of the 2013 Royal Rumble match.

Both men hit multiple finishers and refused to stay down. The spark wasn’t there like it was in their match the year before and it was inevitable that Cena would get his win back. Rock suffered an adductor injury and Cena regained the WWE Championship with an AA.

Former three-time WWE Tag Team Champions The Rock and Mick Foley reteamed to defeat Evolution’s Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton, Ric Flair and Batista in a Handicap Match. WrestleMania 20. Their handicap match was an underrated match with both sides going back and forth.

This was Rock’s last full WrestleMania match for two decades, as his WrestleMania 32 match against Rowan was spontaneous. Despite this, The Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection failed to complete the task and the Legend Killer knocked out Foley with an RKO out of nowhere, securing the win for Evolution.

The outcome of the tag team match between “The Final Boss” The Rock and undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns had massive implications when they faced Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in the main event of WrestleMania 40 on Saturday. This was Rock’s first match in eight years and his first appearance in the main event of WrestleMania in 11 years.

This match was an intense brawl that spilled out of the ring as well. Cody executed the Pedigree on Rock and Rollins hit the Pedigree on Reigns, but both men kicked out. Reigns accidentally rammed Rock, but that was no problem as Reigns hit the American Nightmare and Rock took Cody down with the Rock Bottom and followed it up with the People’s Elbow, ensuring the Bloodline Rules on the second night of WrestleMania between Reigns and Cody.
