Joey Bada$$ named Artist in Residence at the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts –

Here’s some good news. Joey Bada$$ has been named Artist-in-Residence at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for the fall of 2024. The honor makes him the youngest artist to ever hold the position.

This is truly admirable. In this role, Joey will deliver masterclasses, lectures and host question and answer sessions on a range of topics including songwriting, music publishing and the business side of film and television.

In a statement, Joey said, “I am honored and humbled to have been invited to be an artist-in-residence at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute. I look forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge with the students and am sure I will learn a lot from them as well. I am committed to building community across all sectors and this is another beautiful step on that journey.”

What makes this even more awesome is that Joey Bada$$ joins a prestigious list of former artists-in-residence including Pharrell Williams, Dawn Richard, and Swizz Beatz. In addition to his appointment, fellow artist and NYU student Eve began her year-long residency as the 2024-25 Scholar-in-Residence at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Eve’s residency will include visiting classes, meeting with students, and sharing her insights on the music industry. Eve stated, “I want people to understand who I am as a person outside of music. I’m excited to get to know the community and meet in an intimate setting to give students the opportunity to ask me anything they want to ask.”

Both Joey Bada$$ and Eve are poised to make significant contributions to the NYU community through these unique and influential roles.

Higher education and hip hop. In our opinion, you can’t go wrong with that.
