A woman drove her Porsche through the wall of a parking garage in Coral Gables, Florida, and landed in a tree. She was uninjured, CBS News reports.

“She was very lucky”

According to Coral Gables Fire Rescue Chief Xavier Jones, the accident victim confused the accelerator with the brake and crashed through the garage wall. “She was very lucky that the car ended up in a tree,” Jones told CBS News.

In a joint Instagram post, Miami Fire Rescue and the Coral Gables Fire Department shared a video of the rescue operation. The rescue teams were alerted at 9:15 a.m. and were able to free the woman from the vehicle within 30 minutes.

NBC showed aerial footage of the white Porsche extending well over the edge of the garage and becoming stuck in the surrounding trees. Valeira Marsal, who witnessed the incident and called 911, told CBS News: “I heard a loud bang and saw the car in the tree. Luckily, no one was hurt.”

Operations manager Ariel Fernandez wrote on social media: “Proud of our first responders and their incredible work today.”

Pensioner drives car in supermarket

In Hamminkeln near Wesel (North Rhine-Westphalia), however, a 68-year-old woman drove her car into the candy section of a supermarket in April. According to “Bild.de,” the pensioner confused the gas and brake pedals when parking and crashed through the wall of the Rewe supermarket. The store owner Carsten Teichert said: “It really was like a film. I’ve never experienced anything like it.” Fortunately, there were neither customers nor employees in the department at the time.

The supermarket was open and full of customers. Despite the accident, no one was injured and only material damage was caused.
