On the seventh matchday, both TuS 59 Hamm and 1. FC Pelkum achieved their first win of the season in the football district league A (1). The trend is now set to continue.

Hamm – They both had to fight for a long time last season to avoid relegation and have set themselves the goal of finishing above the relegation zone again this season. At the weekend, both TuS 59 Hamm and 1. FC Pelkum achieved their first win of the season in the football district league A (1). “We were never in a bad mood, but always remained positive and knew that our time would come at some point,” said Orhan Secer, coach of TuS 59, after his team won 4-1 at VfK Weddinghofen on matchday seven and picked up their first points. It should have been time for that much sooner, because “we were actually on a level playing field with every opponent, apart from the Wiescherhöfen game (editor’s note: 0-8 defeat). We play really good football, but we don’t score goals and we concede unnecessary goals.”

After the first win of the season: TuS 59 Hamm and 1. FC Pelkum will be watching in the next few weeks

Secer had to watch again and again how his team created a lot of chances but failed to convert the simplest opportunities. On the other hand, TuS 59 deprived itself of its reward through individual errors or goals conceded from set pieces. “In training, my players hit our goalkeeper with the balls. “Perhaps it’s a lack of concentration or the pressure,” wonders Secer, who hopes that his team will be able to get their act together in the upcoming duels against their direct competitors. “After four weeks, we’ll see where we’re headed.”

There was also great relief at 1. FC Pelkum when Bastian Eickhoff’s team secured their first three points against TuS Wiescherhöfen. “There were one or two small changes in the team, which we all worked on together and were able to reward ourselves,” explains Eickhoff, who is referring to the 3:12 defeat at TuS Uentrop. Afterward, the coach and team sat down together. “We addressed the overall situation in the team. We didn’t like the way we were losing. If you sometimes refuse to work, that’s not OK, we can’t tolerate that. That had to be addressed and it paid off.”

Eickhoff: “It was not a flash in the pan”

First with a 3:3 draw in Heessen, before the first victory followed. Eickhoff: “This shouldn’t be a one-off, it has to stay like this consistently. Then we’ll be on the right track.”
