Police release name of Kings Langley shooting victim

On Tuesday, September 17, at around 12:33 a.m., officers were called to reports of gunshots in Railway Terrace.

They rushed to the scene where they found Mustapha Jatta seriously injured before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Less than 15 minutes later, police also received a report that a white Volkswagen Golf was on fire in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley. Police believe there is a connection between the incident and the fire.

Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead said today (September 24): “It is now a week since Mustapha sadly lost his life and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time. We will continue to support them throughout the investigation.”

We continue to explore all possible investigative avenues to understand the circumstances of what happened that evening.

“If there is anyone who may have witnessed the incident in Railway Terrace or has footage of it but has not yet spoken to police, please come forward.

“It is believed that the white Volkswagen Golf in Abbots Langley may be connected to the incident, so I am appealing to anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area before or after the incident to please contact us.

“If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact us.”
