First “Daddy’s Head” trailer scares with a perfidious idea

With “Daddy’s Head” the audience can expect an original variation of monster horror. The first trailer already exudes the best horror atmosphere.

The grieving period affects everyone at some point in their lives. When you have to deal with the death of a loved one, the feeling of helplessness over the loss of everything else in your life outweighs everything else – often for weeks, if not months. Some fall into a deep hole, become apathetic and feel empty. Others try to numb the pain with all the good and not so good means. Sometimes it helps to consciously use grief, as the British filmmaker Benjamin Barfoot did with his horror film “Daddy’s Head”for which there is a first trailer:

For Barfoot, “Daddy’s Head” has a very special meaning, as he told Screen Daily:

“‘Daddy’s Head’ is a very important film for me as it combines personal feelings about family, grief and trauma with my desire to experiment with the horror genre.”

The trailer for his first full-length feature film after “Double Date” seems quite experimental, and you can stream it on Amazon with a Prime subscription at no extra cost. Of course, the classic elements of a horror film, such as something spooky in the forest, are used here. But Barfoot, who is considered one of the most interesting young British filmmakers, clearly knows how to create an exciting atmosphere with all the set pieces that is all too rarely found in the horror genre these days – the so-called slow burn, i.e. the slow and eerie build-up of the thrill.
