Man shot dead late last night in Jamaica Plain housing development

Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a shooting that occurred last night at the Mildred Hailey Housing Project on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain.

Deputy Police Chief Paul McLaughlin said the shooting occurred at 9:22 p.m. Monday. Police patrolled the area and reported “multiple gunshots” and a ShotSpotter activation. Police quickly located an adult male with a gunshot wound who died at the hospital.

“We are dealing with a very large and active crime scene that spans most of the complex, and we have recovered several weapons,” McLaughlin said in an audio recording from the scene. He added that one person was arrested after being found with a firearm and has warrants for his arrest.

However, he added that police are “looking for anyone who can help us move forward with this case.”

NBC10 reported that the crime scene extended several blocks to Heath Street, where officers also had a crime scene cordoned off. They said several weapons were found at the scene.

So far there is no update for this morning.
