17-year-old dies after shooting in Trenton

A 17-year-old from Trenton was pronounced dead at a local hospital less than an hour after he was shot in the back, authorities said.

According to Mercer County Assistant District Attorney Theresa L. Hilton, Trenton police responded to the area of ​​Parkside and Homan Avenue in Trenton around 12:32 p.m. Sunday after gunshots were reported. When they arrived, they found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the back, authorities said in a statement.

First responders on scene began administering first aid to the victim before transporting him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment, where he was pronounced dead at 1:09 p.m.
