South Korean Olympic shooter Kim Yeji plays an assassin in his new film after his impressive performance in Paris

An Olympic shooter from South Korea who rose to fame in Paris for what her fans called her “leading-character energy” has landed an acting role — as, you guessed it, an assassin.

The 32-year-old pistol shooter won countless fans – and a silver medal – at Paris 2024 after competing in the women’s 10m air pistol event, where she narrowly missed out on the gold medal behind compatriot Oh Ye-jin.

But both her style and precision impressed viewers around the world after she coolly told reporters she had “nothing left to improve” on her Olympic performance – and now her natural “presence” has earned her a film role in her home country.

Yeji will star in a spin-off series called “Crush” produced by South Korean film house Asia Lab, a spokesman told AFP on Friday.

The sniper will play a contract killer in the series, which is produced by Lee JungSub alongside Indian actress and influencer Anushka Sen.

A clip posted on Asia Lab’s Instagram page shows Yeji confidently correcting the position of his co-star Sen’s gun in the film.

The medalist started shooting in sixth grade after convincing her parents to let her try the sport.

At the Paris Olympics, Kim was widely described as a “cool presence” as she wore custom-made “Terminator-style” shooting glasses and a white baseball cap, while holding her daughter’s stuffed elephant in her non-shooting hand.

Footage of her in action at the Shooting World Cup in Baku in May also went viral on social media.

The video in question showed Kim winning gold in the 25-meter pistol competition in Baku, setting a new world record.

One viewer commented on the viral video: “No one has ever looked so cool breaking a world record.”

Another replied: “This is the coldest shit. I’m obsessed.”

A third comment read: “And she takes it all in stride, oh she’s the coldest main character there is.”
