Nine players from Roundglass Hockey Academy represent Punjab at the National Under-Junior Championships

Mohali (Punjab)[India]September 24 (ANI): Nine players from Roundglass Hockey Academy have been selected to represent Hockey Punjab in the 14th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men Championship 2024 to be held in Chandigarh from Monday.

Eight players from the academy are in the 18-man squad and one player has been named as a reserve. Punjab are placed in Group E along with Karnataka, Bihar and Manipur and will face Karnataka on the first day of play.

Goalkeeper Jeevan S, defenders Amandeep and Jaswinder Singh, midfielders Varinder Singh, Sunny Singh and Arshdip Singh and strikers Inderjit Singh and Anurag Singh are the players who will represent Punjab in the championship. Abhay has been named as a substitute, so the team now has nine players.

Sharing his thoughts on the selection, Dronacharya Award winner, Olympic gold medallist and Technical Director, Roundglass Punjab Hockey Academy, Rajinder Singh said, “This is a wonderful moment for everyone at Roundglass Hockey Academy and the result of the team’s hard work in nurturing young talent at our centres. I wish all our children luck and also hope that Hockey Punjab wins the title.” Punjab will play Karnataka on September 23, Bihar on September 24 and Manipur on September 26. The quarterfinals are scheduled for September 30, while the semifinals and finals will be played on October 2 and 3 respectively. (ANI)
