WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR SEPT. 23

No lyrics today, y’all— I have a colossal migraine and was napping too close to showtime to want to grab some. On with the show!

The show opens with the usual montage of talent arriving at the arena.

Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman brawl into frame as Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan arrive on their way to their entrance!

Liv gets on the mic and explains they just took a victory lap, which is for winners, none of whom are in the crowd. She says the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour is going exactly as planned and throws to tape of Judgment Day destroying the Terror Twins last week. She says she promised to take everything from Rhea Ripley and that’s exactly what she did.

The title? Hers. Judgment Day? Hers. Dominik Mysterio? Hers. And in two weeks’ time—

Enter Rhea Ripley.

She says Liv can take it easy, she’s not going to hit her. She’s actually got something to tell Morgan. Dom steps in the way and Rhea mocks him, leading Liv to pull him back. She asks if it’s that Rhea isn’t cleared to compete but she’s not letting her out of this mess. Ripley says that’s not it, she’s cleared for Bad Blood.

The message is for both of them, since Mysterio keeps sticking his nose into women’s championship business, Adam Pearce has decided that at Bad Blood, Dom will be exactly where he deserves to be— behind bars in a shark cage! Thus, Rhea will win the title that she never lost back!

And another thing? She takes what she said before back, and she hauls off and headbutts Liv to the mat!

Sami Zayn makes his entrance to send us to break.

Ludwig Kaiser vs. Sami Zayn

Zayn in control early, putting boots to Kaiser, sending him to the floor, but Ludwig regains control with a slap and throws Sami into the post! Back inside, Penalty Kick gets Kaiser a nearfall! Elbow gets a boot, Zayn off the top with a diving axhandle and he follows it with a clothesline that sends Ludwig to the floor!

Following after, chops against the barricade, Sami pops up on the barricade but Kaiser shoves him off and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Zayn recovers, corner exploder but Ludwig rolls away! Action to the floor, Sami crumpled by the steps, Kaiser happy to take the countout but Zayn beats the count! Whip reversed, big lariat takes Ludwig off his feet! Block the Blue Thunder Driver, folding press, feet on the ropes but referee Shaun Bennett catches him!

Corner exploder but Kaiser takes him off his feet with a gamengiri… SO CLOSE! German suplex cuts him off…

Sami Zayn wins by pinfall with a Helluva Kick.

Post-match, GUNTHER comes to ringside.

He says Sami has been begging him for weeks for a title match and he’s seen enough. If he really wants it more than anything else, then he thinks here and now is when he should step up and tell him… no.

Xavier Woods is sitting on a road case in contemplation backstage when Kofi Kingston rolls up. Kofi starts apologizing, Xavier says tensions were high and he apologizes. Kofi says he went in the archives to find some of the things that made New Day New Day and he’s got boxes of Booty-Os and Francesca and a big Booty-O.

Woods says that stuff was all great when they were on top but they haven’t held the tag titles in years and they need to get serious about it. Kingston admits he’s right and says he’s been making decisions unilaterally so for the next few weeks, Xavier should call the shots.

American Made roll up and Chad Gable uses New Day as an example of what not to do. Kofi fakes them out by saying the Wyatt 6 are behind them and they’re spooked. Xavier calls his shot and says he wants the Creeds in a match. Gable mocks them and accepts the challenge.

Kofi has to shoo off a crew member who rolls up with a platter of pancakes and we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a video package for our Intercontinental Championship match.

Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan are screaming at Adam Pearce backstage and he starts screaming back and doesn’t give an inch about the shark cage.

Carlito and JD McDonagh roll up to commisserate and Carlito says he’s going to kick Dragon Lee’s ass, and Liv says the rest of Judgment Day will teach Latino World Order a lesson.

They run into Ilja Dragunov as they leave and bicker with him.

Latino World Order make their entrance and we go to break.

Carlito vs. Dragon Lee

Lee hot out the gates, dropkick sends Carlito to the floor and he follows it with a dive! Back inside, kicks into the corner, Colon takes him off his feet with a lariat and into mounted punches and then stomps! Dragon gets him down in the corner, hesitation dropkick connects, he goes up top but JD McDonagh runs interference and it turns into a brawl between stables on the floor with Judgment Day getting the better of them until Rey Mysterio shows up!

Carlito with a schoolboy for two, boot up in the corner, sidestep…

Dragon Lee wins by pinfall with Operation: Dragon.

Miz is warming up backstage when Karrion Kross rolls up.

The A-Lister tries to brush him off but Kross tries to get in his head about how it’s messed up nobody around here respects him and he just wants him to be the Miz.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Sheamus is interviewed backstage.

He says Pete Dunne hit him for six last week and leads a rousing “Call him Butch!” chant before saying he still has a score to settle and he’s making this an English/Irish thing.\

Braun Strowman attacks Bronson Reed before his entrance! BRAUN CHOKESLAMS HIM INTO THE APRON! THE MIZ CONFRONTS STROWMAN AND REED DIVES ON BOTH OF THEM!

Security swarm the ring to break it up, neither man will be held back and they destroy the security guards! More and more security comes to the ring but the monsters fend them off and wipe each other out! Bronson up top, Braun meets him, jockeying for position and security breaks them up!

Powerslams on a bunch of security, Reed backs off as Strowman goes up top and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Drew McIntyre makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He repeats CM Punk’s promises to make him bleed and that he’ll have to kill him, and his rhetoric about it being the end of both of them. He’s been thinking about those words and the look in his eyes, and he meant every single word. He says he’s always told the truth but usually he keeps the personal stuff to himself, but he’ll put it out there this time.

He does not want to go back in Hell in a Cell, a match that has broken things in him that remain unfixed. He talks about how his family has also begged him not to do this match. But none of that matters, and this match is going to happen at Bad Blood and he has promises of his own.

He promises to make Punk bleed, a lot. That he’s going to suffer more pain than he’s felt in his entire existence. It’s appropriate CM compared himself to the devil because this is good vs. evil, but he’s just a man that Drew has broken so easily in the past and will break permanently inside Hell in a Cell.

Adam Pearce is interviewed backstage.

He says Bronson and Braun have gone too far and a regular match won’t stop them, so next week it’ll be Last Monster Standing.

We hear fighting noises and Adam runs around a corner to see Pete Dunne choking Sheamus with a cricket bat and smashing it over his back! Dunne is held back as Pearce calls for medics and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Bianca Belair rolls up on Damage CTRL in Gorilla and congratulates IYO SKY on her performance in their last match. SKY says next time she’s coming for the tag titles, and Jade Cargill says she best understand they’re not putting hands on those tag titles.

Some interference gets a deep nearfall for Fyre, the match breaks down, diving elbow to the floor! IYO off the top…

Damage CTRL win by pinfall with the diving moonsault from IYO SKY on Isla Dawn.

Bron Breakker is interviewed backstage.

He says it’s game day and that means the dogs are barking, and there’s gonna be a winner and there’s gonna be a loser, and he’s not going to be the one to get his ass kicked. But he’ll do Jey Uso a favor and give him another shot in a few months when he works his way back up, because he’s going to be champion for a long, long time.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a recap of the wacky cinematic face-to-face between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns on SmackDown.

New Day make their entrance to send us to break.

Sami Zayn rolls up on Jey Uso and gives him a pep talk ahead of his match.

Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed) vs. New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods)

Julius and Xavier to start, collar and elbow, trading right hands, up and over, Woods slips out, off the ropes, duck a lariat, slide under, rolling elbow connects! Tag to Kingston, into the corner, quick tags from the heels but New Day get back in control. Nearfall on Brutus, stacking up on him in the corner, Creed turns Woods around and lights him up!

Mounted punches, blasting Julius when he tries to run in, Kofi runs in, the match breaks down, stereo superplexes and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Woods reaching for a tag, he settles for dropping Brutus with a lariat and clearing the path! Passing Julius to the floor, Chad Gable runs interference and referee Danilo Anfibio misses the tag! Trapping Xavier in the ring skirt and putting boots to him, the heat segment rolls on!

Thanks to my darling wife Josie who catches a Wyatt Six VHS promo I missed rushing to the bathroom—

A mysterious promo plays. If I didn’t know better I’d say it was clipped from the opening credits of se7en.

Back from commercial we get a hype reel for the Pure Fusion Collective.

Latino World Order roll up on New Day and Rey Mysterio apologizes for what happened last week. Xavier Woods says he doesn’t want an apology unless it comes with a tag title shot. Rey says he gets that he’s going through it but he knows they’ll get through it because they’re the New Day.

Woods takes a dig about Rey should give advice to his son and flips out over his perception that he’s being mistreated because he’s never held a singles title and it all ends with Mysterio booking a match against Xavier next week and Kofi chastising Woods for his attitude.

Jey Uso makes his entrance and we go to break.

Trading punches in the middle of the ring, big lariat from the champion! Bron stalking, military press powerslam… SO CLOSE! Out to the floor for the spear, back inside and the straps are down! Off the ropes, spear countered with a spear! Jey goes up top, diving splash… BRON BREAKKER KICKS OUT!
