Threat to Towns County school leads to additional charges, including child abuse

A threat against Towns County schools led to an investigation that resulted in additional charges of rape and child abuse.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation based on a rumor of a threat to the school system.

Officers suspected 17-year-old Jeremiah Andrew Franklin Lloyd of Murphy, North Carolina, and began monitoring his social media accounts.

On Friday, a threat to Towns County Schools was identified and arrests and search warrants were executed.

The investigation led to several other alleged crimes involving a 14-year-old girl.

Lloyd was arrested at a residence on Konahetah Road and charged with:

  • Serious terrorist threats

  • Disruption of public school operations

  • Sexual exploitation of children

  • Serious crime: Seduction of a child for indecent purposes

  • Child abuse

  • Sexual abuse of minors

According to officials, Lloyd admitted to all the charges against him during an interview and is being held without bail at the Towns County Detention Center.
