++ Info meeting at noon, 23.09.24: Brandenburg: AfD gains influence ++

After the state elections in Brandenburg, the SPD remains the strongest force. Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke’s party received 30.9 percent of the vote, followed by the AfD with 29.2 percent. The party has thus secured a blocking minority and thus political influence. In future, it will have a say in decisions that require a two-thirds majority. This applies, for example, to constitutional amendments and the appointment of senior judges.

But first a government must be formed. The SPD will most likely begin exploratory talks this week, said SPD parliamentary group leader Daniel Keller on rbb. There will be no talks with the AfD. The Social Democrats are open to talks with the CDU and BSW.

Attack on homeless woman: Police call for DNA tests

In the case of the brutal attack on a homeless woman around a year ago near Lauda-Königshofen in the Main-Tauber district, DNA tests are now to advance the investigation. The police are calling on around 800 men from the Unterbalbach district to take a test. The investigators hope that this will lead to a possible suspect. At the end of July last year, the 62-year-old woman was found with life-threatening injuries on a sports field and has been paralyzed since the incident.
