While the transfer deadline in the Bundesliga ended in late summer, transfer activity in FC eSports is at a standstill. This is different for Borussia Dortmund, which has extended its contract with the entire squad. The club announced this in a statement. The team also includes Alihan Kösecik, Bradley Destoop, Dennis Malcherczyk, Roee Feldman – as well as Lucas Geerken and Eleonora Limkou.

Steinmetz and Baß follow Gadjduk

There was only one change in the coaching position. After the departure of Stefan Gajduk, the eFootballers will be supported by Alexander Steinmetz and Jan-Luca Baß. The latter previously played in the Virtual Bundesliga for VfL Bochum and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. “We are looking forward to the new season. The plan is clear: We definitely want to do better than in the previous season. Our goal is to make it into the play-offs,” explained coach Steinmetz in the statement.

Last year, BVB took part in the competition for the first time. In their debut season, the Westphalians finished tenth in the North-West Division, but had a chance of making the play-offs until the end. The team was much more successful in the DFB ePokal. There, the black and yellows made it to the final, submitted after two games by RBLZ Gaming from Leipzig. To kick off the new season in the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship, the Dortmund team will face Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Also Embelier

BVB has not only extended the contracts of the players, content creator Erné Embeli will also continue to work at Borsigplatz. “I am proud to continue to work so closely with the club. We have a lot planned for the FC25 year,” said Embeli.

The 29-year-old is now one of the veterans of Dortmund’s eFootball team. During the Covid pandemic, contact with the BVB-affiliated content creator was made through an agency. Together with Eldin Todorovac and the then Dortmund professionals Achraf Hakimi and Leonardo Balerdi, the duo took part in the Bundesliga Home Challenge.
