ITV finally announces Big Brother launch date – spin-off show and live broadcast also return to screens

Big Brother fans went crazy on Monday after the start date of the popular ITV show was announced.

The original social experiment will return on Sunday 6 October at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, along with a spin-off show and a live feed.

Just like last year, the celebrity version of the show will be hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.

The live launch of Big Brother will introduce a new group of housemates moving into the nation’s most famous house, which has been given a fresh coat of paint ahead of the new season.

The housemates juggle complex tasks, live evictions, exciting nominations and the usual dose of drama.

Like last year, the celebrity version of the show will be hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best (pictured hosting CBB in March).

This time too, the audience will decide the fate of the contestants, who will have to vote throughout the series and only one will remain who can win the cash prize.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated spin-off “Big Brother: Late & Live” will offer viewers “exclusive, unforgettable action as well as hilarious discussions and deliberations” with a top-class jury of celebrity guests.

The Late & Live series also remains the only place to watch the displaced’s first live interview with hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best.

The epic reboot will air seven nights a week on ITVX, giving fans the chance to see live footage from inside the house.

Since their glorious return to screens last year on their new slots ITV and ITVX, Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother with the live stream and companion show Late & Live have been streamed 70 million times.

Meanwhile, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu admitted last month that she thought she had been “cancelled” after she performed “wrong” during her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.

The 29-year-old Love Island winner has revealed that she has spent the last few months in therapy following her appearance on the ITV show.

After two weeks in the house, Ekin-Su was the fourth person to be evicted after the other housemates accused her of being a fraud and acting out.

In an interview with “Fabulous” magazine, the influencer explained that she had “told her family she was cancelled” and had received several death threats after her performance.

She said: “I felt like my career was over. I was getting death threats. I told my family I was fired, packed my things and left the country.”

Instead of blaming others, Ekin-Su said she is now in therapy and has come to the conclusion that moving into the house after splitting from her ex-boyfriend and co-star Davide Sanclimenti, 29, was the “wrong decision”.

Ekin-Su and Davide won Love Island in 2022, dated for 18 months and even had their own spin-off reality show, but their relationship didn’t go smoothly after the handsome Italian was accused of cheating on him with an OnlyFans model.

The reality star further admitted that she would get “defensive” on Big Brother if any of her housemates mentioned her ex, “Davide, Love Island or OnlyFans.”

She continued: “It was the wrong decision to go there and I know that. But as much as Celebrity Big Brother was bad for me, I have to take responsibility for how I was. I didn’t do enough research and I didn’t expect it to be as intense as it was.

“I arrived jet-lagged and without sleep. I wasn’t in the right mood and I admit I wasn’t myself. I didn’t talk to anyone about Davide cheating on me – I lied to everyone about my attitude, but the public could see that I wasn’t being honest. They were right when they said I was a cheater.”

Ekin-Su stressed that she had no problem with OnlyFans, but that the topic had “hit a sore spot” because she was “vulnerable” at the time.

Speaking about her eviction, the beauty said she was “shocked” when her name was called and she “felt unsafe” when she was booed out of the house by the studio audience.

Following the show, Ekin-Su appeared on Big Brother: Late And Live, where she was grilled by celebrity panellist Layton Williams, who ranted: “Don’t blame the editing. We see what we see,” while show host Will Best called her “Ekin Boo Hoo Hoo.”

More than 130 people complained to Ofcom about their treatment in the spin-off show.

The TV personality, who has also appeared on Dancing On Ice and The Traitors US, went on to tell the publication that she “regrets” taking part in Big Brother and “wishes she had never signed up”.

She added: “I wanted to prove to people that I could achieve something without my ex and it backfired. My self-esteem is deeply rooted in my work and the validation of others. When the public hated me, I hated myself.”

“Without the cheer, I was nothing and that’s when I realized that I have to change. I have to learn to give myself the love that I look for in other people.”
