Kamala Harris gains lead in presidential odds after post-debate polls

Vice President Kamala Harris made slight gains or remained stable in the betting odds for the 2024 presidential election.

This action, which is not legally permitted for U.S. bookmakers, remained in Harris’ favor after the first debate of the race between the vice president and former President Donald Trump.

Post-debate polls reflect Harris’ narrow lead in the betting market. A post-debate USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll showed Harris ahead 49% to 46% in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

Harris extended her lead at the three offshore betting sites USA TODAY regularly examines, staying at -125 (even winnings) at British bookmaker Bet365.

The change of course to the Democrats came after Trump gave up the possibility of further debates against Harris following the decisive defeat in Philadelphia.
