Identity of woman who died on the first day of Burning Man revealed

The woman who died at Burning Man on Sunday was identified as 39-year-old Kendra Frazer. Her hometown was not disclosed.

Frazer was found unconscious at 11:28 a.m., according to the Burning Man Organization. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified at 11:37 a.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy and toxicology results.

While the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office conducts the investigation, the Washoe County Coroner will conduct tests and determine the cause of death. A final cause of death may take months.

Several people have died in the pop-up city, which has attracted thousands from all over the world in recent years.

In 2018, 41-year-old Joel Mitchell died after running into the fire at the Burning Man building on the Saturday night of the event.

In 2022, 68-year-old Tennessee judge John Everett Williams died of natural causes at Burning Man

In 2023, 32-year-old Leon Reece of Truckee died of drug poisoning.

The annual festival is held 100 miles east of Reno in the Black Rock Desert and is Nevada’s third largest community. This year, 70,000 visitors are expected.
