Telegram founder Pavel Durov faces 12 serious charges in France after he was arrested at Le Bourget airport on the outskirts of Paris. The charges include complicity in facilitating illegal activities through the Telegram platform, including using the platform as a webmaster to facilitate organized crime transactions, refusing to provide important information to law enforcement, and complicity in the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Other charges include involvement in drug trafficking and offering cryptology services without the required certification.

The 12 counts also include laundering proceeds of criminal activity, providing unauthorized cryptographic tools, and importing cryptographic tools without proper declaration with Telegram under his direction.
