With temperatures between 35 and 35 degrees, it probably didn’t feel like it for most people today, but by the end of this week, some changes are likely to take place. Here’s the news:

Monday will bring unseasonably hot temperatures and high humidity. Temperatures will start at 24 degrees in the morning and will drop to the low to mid 30s in the afternoon, and will likely feel a few degrees warmer thanks to the humidity. While most won’t be affected, a few isolated showers can’t be ruled out, especially in the late afternoon and evening. We’re looking at a 10-20% chance at best.

Scattered rain is expected until mid-week, peaking at 30% on Wednesday.

A weak cold front looks to move through the area late Wednesday, sending a lot of drier air into southcentral Texas. This will lead to a more seasonal feel heading into next weekend, with some morning temperatures around 18 degrees and highs around 32 degrees.

TROPICAL UPDATE

Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center in the tropics continues to warn of likely development in the western Caribbean and central Gulf of Mexico over the next week.

This system, which will be named Helene when it strengthens into a tropical storm, is expected far east of Texas with a likely landfall somewhere between Mississippi and Florida before next weekend.
