☕️ Breakfast news: BVB loses in Stuttgart & season over for ter Stegen?

Well, did you all recover well from the weekend? If you relaxed so much that you didn’t even get around to watching football, don’t worry: The breakfast news will provide you with everything you missed in football terms over the weekend

Marc Andre ter Stegen was most likely seriously injured in the league match against Villareal without any external influence. Towards the end of the first half, the goalkeeper landed on his right leg after intercepting a ball and immediately collapsed with a face contorted in pain. He then had to be taken off the field in a tragedy. Coach Flick gave an initial assessment at the press conference after the match: “We are very happy about the victory, but in truth sad because I believe that it is a serious injury.”

There is currently a possibility of a tear in the patellar tendon in the right knee. This would mean an absence of around eight months. This would mean the end of the season for ter Stegen with the Catalans.

Anton and Guirassy certainly imagined this return to be different. In their first game as ex-Stuttgart players in their former place of work, they lost 5:1 to BVB. Waldemar Anton was also booed shamelessly by the Stuttgart fans every time he touched the ball. It is probably only a small consolation that Guirassy scored his first goal in the BVB jersey.

Schalke had to be particularly strong this weekend: first they gave away a 3-0 lead and lost 3-5 to Darmstadt in their own stadium, then the stadium lights let them down and to top it all off, they fired coach Geraerts and sports director Wilmots on Saturday. Things just never get boring with the Knappen.

Oh yes, and if any of you are interested – Schalke also published a trainer profile for the “new guy” at the weekend.

After watching this video, we don’t need to tell you that Pep Guardiola wasn’t particularly happy about Arsenal’s equaliser in yesterday’s game against Man City, do we?

In addition, today is the fourth matchday of the Icon League.
