Shooting in Chicago: 15-year-old boy shot and seriously injured on South Wolcott Avenue in West Englewood, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — A teenager was seriously injured in a shooting in the south of the city on Sunday evening.

The shooting occurred around 5:14 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Wolcott Avenue, right next to Henderson Elementary School, Chicago police said.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was standing near a sidewalk when an unknown vehicle stopped and at least one person got out of the vehicle and began shooting at him, police said.

The boy was shot multiple times in the legs, police said. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.

The perpetrators fled the scene in the vehicle and drove east along 57th Street, police said.

Since the police investigation is still ongoing, no one has been arrested.
