Sister Wives Preview: Janelle Wants to Move to Montana and Sell Kody Land

Sister Wives Preview: Janelle Wants to Move to Montana and Sell Kody Land

Janelle Brown is ready for a new beginning after Kody Brown divided – even if that means a dirty fight over the sale of their land.

“If Kody isn’t willing to pay me off … I’m going to have to do something with it,” Janelle, 55, tells her sister-in-law Christine Brown In We weekly‘s preview of the episode of Sunday, September 22 Sisterwives.

Janelle points out that they have to pay off the property at Coyote Pass in Arizona, but claims that 55-year-old Kody “doesn’t talk to me about it.”

She admits, “I think I’m going to have to get a lawyer involved,” and claims, “That’s the only way I’ll ever get any decision from him.”

Kody and his third wife Christine, 52, announced their separation in November 2021. At the time, she gave Kody her share of her family’s land in Arizona, on which the polygamous group planned to build five homes. (Christine kept the money from her home sale when she moved to Utah after the divorce.)

Janelle confirmed in December 2022 that she and Kody had split after 30 years together. The couple, who have six children together, were never legally married, but they had been in a spiritual union since 1992. (Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison committed suicide in March at the age of 25.)

Kody’s first wife, Meri Brownannounced publicly in January 2023 that they had also separated. He remains legally married to the fourth wife Robyn Brown.

Janelle Brown and Kody Brown’s plural marriage from Sister Wives was anything but conventional before their split in 2022. Janelle and Kody’s lives were intertwined long before their spiritual wedding in 1993. Janelle’s late mother, Sheryl Brown, and Kody’s father, William Winn Brown, were married for years before William died in 2013, which led to the later […]

Despite all the family turmoil, the Coyote Pass property has remained a point of contention for everyone. However, Janelle revealed during the season 19 premiere on September 15 that she was considering moving to Montana with her eldest daughter Maddie, 28, and her family.

“What changed my mind? [about the Arizona land] was when I went to Montana with Maddie to look there, and I thought, ‘Oh, I could have that somewhere else,'” Janelle tells Christine in the upcoming TLC episode.

Christine reveals that it would be a “no-brainer” for Janelle to live with Maddie in Montana or “live at Coyote Pass with a house and who knows, maybe Kody and Robyn. Maybe Meri will get a house there too? No.”

Kody Brown and Janelle Brown shared a lot of love before their split in 2022 – including raising their six children. The Sister Wives stars’ spiritual wedding in 1993 marked the beginning of their multi-family. Kody was already legally married to Meri Brown when he welcomed Janelle into his life. He subsequently married spiritually […]

Janelle seems okay with leaving Kody and Arizona behind, but legally giving up her land holdings isn’t easy.

“I really have no legal claim to Kody’s property. We’re not legally married,” she admits. “It’s not like I just call a lawyer and say, ‘I need to divorce this person.’ No, it’s really complicated because there’s no legal marriage.”

Despite the land issue, Janelle tells Christine that she is completely over her marriage to Kody. “He hasn’t spoken to me in a very long time,” Janelle explains, noting that the exes communicate via text message.

While Janelle admits she didn’t say it was over, she says she doesn’t see him at all. “He avoids me,” she adds.

Sisterwives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
